Women's League
Championing the political, social, and economic empowerment of South Sudanese women within the SPLM-IO and the nation.
The SPLM-IO Women's League is the organised voice of women within the Movement. It mobilises women at all levels of the party structure, advocates for gender-inclusive policies, and ensures that women's perspectives shape the Movement's agenda on peace, governance, and national reconstruction.
Our Mission
To advance the full and equal participation of women in the political, social, and economic life of South Sudan; to hold the SPLM-IO and transitional institutions accountable to the gender commitments enshrined in the R-ARCSS; and to build a generation of women leaders capable of driving lasting peace and development.

Political Participation
Advocating for the 35% gender quota across all transitional institutions and ensuring women hold meaningful decision-making roles at every level of the SPLM-IO.
Peace & Reconciliation
Mobilising women as active agents of peace at the community level, drawing on their unique role as mothers, community leaders, and survivors of conflict.
Legal & Constitutional Rights
Monitoring implementation of gender provisions in the R-ARCSS and the Transitional Constitution, and advocating for laws that protect women from discrimination and violence.
Economic Empowerment
Supporting women's access to land rights, business opportunities, and financial services as a foundation for independence and community resilience.
Education & Capacity Building
Running leadership training, civic education, and skills development programmes to equip women members for public service and community leadership.
Health & Social Welfare
Advocating for maternal health, nutrition, and social protection policies that address the disproportionate burden borne by women during and after conflict.
Recent Activities
Women's Political Leadership Forum
A two-day forum bringing together SPLM-IO women representatives from all ten states to review progress on the 35% quota and develop a unified advocacy strategy for the remaining transitional period.
Regional Consultation on Gender-Based Violence
The Women's League co-hosted a regional consultation with civil society partners to document GBV patterns in conflict-affected areas and present recommendations to the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission.
Community Reconciliation Dialogue — Western Bahr el Ghazal
Women's League representatives facilitated inter-community dialogue sessions in Wau, bringing together women from different ethnic communities to build local peace frameworks ahead of the dry-season planting period.
