Membership of the SPLM-IO is open to all South Sudanese citizens who share the movement's commitment to democratic governance, the rule of law, and a lasting peace. Members are the foundation of the movement — its strength, its voice, and its future.

Membership Eligibility
Any South Sudanese citizen aged 18 years or above who accepts the SPLM-IO Constitution, Code of Conduct, and Manifesto, and who has not been convicted of a serious criminal offence, is eligible to apply for membership. Membership is voluntary and non-discriminatory on the basis of ethnicity, gender, religion, or region.
Membership Categories

| Ordinary Member | Open to all eligible South Sudanese citizens. Ordinary members enjoy full voting rights and may stand for election to movement organs at all levels. | Completed application form, acceptance of the Constitution and Code of Conduct, payment of annual membership fee. |
| Youth Member | Open to South Sudanese citizens between the ages of 18 and 35. Youth members participate through the SPLM-IO Youth League and have dedicated representation in movement structures. | Completed application form, proof of age, acceptance of the Constitution and Code of Conduct. |
| Women's League Member | Open to all female members of the movement. Women's League members have dedicated representation and participate in the movement's gender equality and women's empowerment programmes. | Completed application form, acceptance of the Constitution and Code of Conduct. |
| Diaspora Member | Open to South Sudanese citizens residing outside South Sudan. Diaspora members are organised through regional diaspora chapters and maintain full membership rights. | Completed application form, proof of South Sudanese citizenship, acceptance of the Constitution and Code of Conduct. |
How to Apply
Complete the Application
Fill in the membership application form with your personal details, region, and the membership category you are applying for.
Review & Acceptance
Read and formally accept the SPLM-IO Constitution, Code of Conduct, and Manifesto. These documents set out the movement's values and the obligations of membership.
Submission & Verification
Submit your completed application to your regional or state structure, or to the national Secretariat for Membership Affairs. Your application will be reviewed within 30 days.
Confirmation
Upon approval, you will receive a membership confirmation and your membership number. You are then entitled to all rights and subject to all obligations of membership.

Membership Oath
The SPLM-IO Party Oath
Every member of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement — In Opposition solemnly affirms this oath upon joining the Movement.

I, [Full Name], do hereby solemnly swear and affirm that I voluntarily join the Sudan People's Liberation Movement — In Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) as a committed member.

I pledge to uphold and defend the Constitution, Manifesto, and Code of Conduct of the SPLM/A-IO at all times.

I commit myself to the principles of Prosperity, Freedom, Justice, and Peace — the four pillars upon which a new and democratic South Sudan shall be built.

I shall work tirelessly for the liberation, unity, and dignity of all the people of South Sudan, without discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, religion, gender, or region.

I shall be loyal to the Movement, obey its lawful decisions and directives, and place the collective interest of the people above personal gain.

I shall not engage in any act that undermines the unity, security, or integrity of the SPLM/A-IO or that brings the Movement into disrepute.

I shall respect the rights of fellow members, support the leadership structures of the Movement, and contribute actively to its programmes and activities.

I make this oath freely, without coercion, and with full understanding of the responsibilities it entails.
