UPDATE: Proceedings of the 102nd Session of the Sham Trial of H.E. Dr. Riek Machar and Seven Other SPLM/A-IO Detainees
Juba, July 29, 2026 — The SPLM-IG-established sham court, known as the Special Court on the Incident of Nasir, held its 102nd session at Freedom Hall. Lt. Gen. Gabriel Duop Lam — Acting Chief of Staff of the SPLA-IO, Co-Chair of the Joint Defense Board, and Deputy Chief of the Defense Forces of the SSPDF — resumed his defense testimony, systematically refuting all charges against him. He clarified that communications with the U.S. Ambassador were official and covered by the R-ARCSS mandate, that SPLA-IO forces did not participate in the Nasir garrison attack, and that all phone messages were routine official communications. The court adjourned until Monday, August 3, 2026. The SPLM/A-IO reiterates its demand for the immediate and unconditional release of H.E. Dr. Riek Machar and all SPLM/A-IO detainees, rejecting the Special Court as a political tool to abrogate the Revitalised Agreement. — Cde. Puok Both Baluang
